Join Dr. Karen Wyatt as she welcomes her guest Joanne Richardson who is a retired County Coroner. Joanne spent 21 years of her career working as a coroner and shares her stories and insights into this unusual occupation, which most of us know primarily through movies and television.

Joanne Richardson MFS, EMT-P worked as a coroner for 21 years including three elected 4-year terms as the County Coroner in Summit County, Colorado. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Health Services and was also trained as a Paramedic and Level 1 Peace Officer. She also received a Master's Degree in Forensic Science and Investigations and a Certificate in Bereavment Studies. During her time as a County Coroner she created guidelines and a procedures manual as well as training modules for her deputies. Her office earned accreditation by the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners. In retirement she is pursuing her hobbies of photography and fiction writing.
